54. Congress of German Society for Medical Physics

01.10.2023 -

Prof. Dr. Christoph Hoeschen from the Chair of Medical Systems Technology, led the 54th annual conference of the German Society for Medical Physics, which took place in Magdeburg this year, together with Dr. Kerstin Jungnickel from the Municipal Hospital in Magdeburg as conference president 2023. Medical physics researches the application of physical methods in medical practice.

The annual conference is the largest specialist event in the field of medical physics in Germany. About 850 experts from medical physics and related disciplines presented current research results and new technologies in the field of research to the professional audience, but also to the interested public as well as pupils and students.

The topics were, for example, trends in radiation therapy and medical imaging, European requirements in radiation protection or processes for quality assurance. Medical physicists had the opportunity to learn about clinical issues and problems as well as future techniques, methods and developments.

In about 30 scientific sessions, more than 160 lectures were held and 100 posters were presented. More than 40 industry exhibitors showed new equipment and innovative software and were available for intensive exchange. In addition, radiation protection courses were held.

A special day was also offered to show school students the applications of their school material at an early stage and to get them excited about a possible career in medical physics.

This year's conference was a great success and we would like to thank all participants for the inspiring and educational exchange!
