Pharmacokinetic modeling

Pharmacokinetics is the science of studying the rate and extent of absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination of chemicals or drugs in the body using experimental techniques and mathematical modeling approaches. Pharmacokinetic parameters describing these processes include volume of distribution, clearance, half-life, maximum concentration, area under the concentration curve and bioavailability. These parameters can be determined or estimated using mathematical models that simulate the pharmacokinetic process.

X-ray dark field imaging

X-ray dark-field imaging provides information about the small-angle scattering distribution below the spatial resolution of the imaging system. We are investigating these dark-field imaging methods for generating structural information of soft tissues like tumors.

Breath gas analysis

In the last decades, the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in exhaled air has been studied and further developed as a promising approach for the identification of biomarkers for the diagnosis and monitoring of various diseases. One of the main advantages of this procedure is its non-invasive approach. This is particularly important for populations such as children and the elderly, and for diseases whose current standard diagnoses use invasive techniques such as biopsies and bronchoscopies.
